Yes, that's right, Oman no longer requires a local trademark, so applicants can register .om domains based on their company name, any US/international/any trademark, patents etc. The applicant just needs to demonstrate a right to the particular domain name, which could even just be through the existence of your matching domain names held in other countries.
To register a domain in Oman, the Omani regulatory authorities require the following documentation:
• Commercial Registration: A scanned copy of the applicant company's commercial registration (global entities accepted). If the original document is not in English, a translation must be provided; we can assist with text extraction and translation from your PDF.
• Signed Request Letter: A signed formal letter requesting the domain registration. We will assist you in preparing this document.
• Proof of Relation (if applicable): If the requested domain does not partially match or abbreviate your company name or trademark, you must provide evidence of ownership or connection (e.g., trademarks, copyrights, patents, product sheets, or existing domains). We can register a Trademark in a fast lane jurisdiction (2-3 days, 150 USD).
The domain name applied for cannot conflict with any registered trademark in Oman.
Detailed disclaimer for .OM domain names registration:
Any domain names applied for are subject to a verification by the Omani authorities. If they decide to classify a domain as "premium" the registration fee may differ and we will inform you for ultimate approval. Otherwise, you will receive a refund minus cost.
Please note that a local Trustee will be added as administrative contact even if you do not specifically select the Trustee Service at check out.
Registered domain names are strictly non-transferable, except in cases of corporate merger or acquisition. Upon an entity's dissolution, its registered domain names may be reallocated. Cybersquatting or registering domains intended for resale will result in the immediate revocation of all domains held by the registrant. Transferring a domain between unrelated organizations requires the current owner to delete the registration, allowing the new entity to apply. This deletion-and-reapplication process is subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis and carries no guarantee of success.
