Is Google going to rank the .XXX version of a specific site higher than it’s .COM equivalent?
Will www.yoursite.xxx rank higher than www.yoursite.com?
This is indeed a very interesting question for those interested in Search Engine traffic.
According to our searches, the already launched site ifriends.xxx, has been ranked #1 for an “ifriends” search at Google. Whereas the equivalent .NET and .ORG versions are ranked lower. More astonishingly, the .COM site is not even on page one !!
However, according to Domain Incite which noticed this, it seems that the choice of browser, toolbar, Google site and location may play a factor in which results you see.
A interesting observation seems to be, that when your results has the .XXX domain first, it appears to completely replace the .COM.
Should Google opt to rank .XXX sites higher than their .COM equivalents, or completely replace them, this will certainly make it much easier for Internet users to identify sites with adult content.
