Trademark owners and trade organisations, have voiced strong concerns about the possibility of someone registering [YOURTRADEMARK].xxx, using it for erotic content, or perhaps trying to resell it.
In response to these concerns, a special Sunrise B has been established, by which Trademark owners can act preemptively to protect their brands. In short, Trademark owners are given opportunity to block their Trademark names. This is not the same as a registration, as the domain is blocked and cannot be used for any purposes.
Once a domain has been blocked, this will stay in effect for 10 years.
As with other recent TLD launches, once the Sunrise and Landrush phases have been completed, the .XXX domain will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, and there will be no further possibility to block registrations.
Trademark holders can apply during Sunrise B, starting September 7th 2011.
The Trademark must be registered prior to September 1st, 2011. Both country specific and OHIM trademarks are accepted.
The Trademark and domain must be an exact match, although spaces and special characters can be removed or replaced. A figuremark can also be used, based on its corresponding complete textual component.
