Effective July 3rd, France introduced IDN’s to not only the .FR TLD, but also .RE, .TF, .WF, .PM, .YT.
Anybody eligible to register a .FR domain name can thus register domains with 30 internationalised domain name characters, or diacritical marks, including the popular é, è and ê.
Local presence within Europe is required. Companies outside Europe can register via Web Solutions’ Trustee service for .FR domains.
Applicant must be based within the European Union or EFTA. After Brexit, UK companies do not qualify. Web Solutions further offer a free Trustee Service for .FR domains.
