.COM.TR Domain Registration

.COM.TR regulations summary:

Foreign entities are allowed registration of .com.tr domain names. However, it is required to either have a Turkish trademark (or application) or provide documentation of existing or planned business activities or clients in Turkey.

Annual domain fee: USD 175.00

DNS Service/Web forwarding is included, free of charge.

.COM.TR full regulations:

Foreign companies may register .com.tr domain names. However, The Turkish domain regulations require that foreign companies must document having business relations in Turkey.

In order to register a .com.tr domain name, we will need the following documentation:

- A Certificate on Incorporation from the applicants home country. Translated to English.
- Documentation of activities in Turkey (detailed below)

Such documentation of activities could be one of the following:

a) Confirmation Letter from a local business partner
A written and signed statement from a Turkish business partner, briefly confirming the relationship or intention to enter into relationship. The statement should be printed on company letterhead clearly showing the Turkish address of the business partner. A draft letter can be provided by Web Solutions.

b) Copies of agreements/contracts/patents/licences in Turkey or with Turkish companies
For instance a "distribution agreement", "franchising agreement", or other form of signed agreement with a Turkish company.

c) Turkish trademark certificate or application
If you own a Turkish trademark, or have applied for one, simply send us documentation for this.
Occasionally, the registry may ask for additional documentation for business relations in Turkey, besides the trademark.

d) Documentation of having Turkish clients.
Usually in the form of copies of invoices to Turkish clients. Can be both business and private clients.

Note that usually only one of the above A-D is required. But we cannot guarantee an outcome, therefore its important that you provide us with as much documentation as possible.

Further, there are the following naming rules:
- Domain names must be derived from the applicant company name, or certain abbreviations of the same.
- Domains can also be derived from Turkish registered trademarks or trademark applications, or certain abbreviations of the same.
- Words that are not part of the official name or trademark cannot be added. However, it is allowed to add a hyphen "-".
- Abbreviations must include the basic elements of the company name. Only latter elements can be removed or abbreviated.
- In some instances it is allowed to translate names into English or Turkish

For instance "The First Company, Inc." can register "thefirstcompany.com.tr" and "thefirst.com.tr"; but not "firstcompany.com.tr" or "company.com.tr", as the domain must include the basic element of "The" etc..
