November 16, 2010, the sharp s “ß”, will be allowed in .DE domain names. From this date it will be possible to register domains such as “straße.de” on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
There is currently Grandfathering process running, where holders of domains containing “ss” can apply for the corresponding ß-domain.
