The new .ONG domain, similar to .NGO, domain is devoted to Non-Governmental Organisations across the globe. The extension offers a trusted and validated alternative to the existing .ORG domain and serves non-political and non-criminal organisations who focus on public interest. .ONG is the abbreviated translation for non-governmental organisation in romance languages, for example Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese. .ONG namespace is another option for NGOs in those parts of the world, where the other wording is more relevant, such as “Organisation Non Gouvernementale” in French or “Organización No Gubernamental” in Spanish.

Sunrise
(approx duration 30-60 days)

Landrush
(approx duration 30 days)
The initial launch phase for broad general distribution when anyone (usually companies) can submit a request for a domain name under the .ONG. Landrush registrations are typically NOT first-come, first-served. Duplicate requests are auctioned between the parties desiring an identical name.
General availability
(perpetual after Landrush)
Finally, domain names under the .ONG will be available to the general public, at normal retail prices on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants may attempt to register previously pre-registered domains within .ONG. When a domain is registered, it is officially reserved and registered in real time.
